How to choose a full storage bed
A storage platform bed replaces a box spring and adds drawers under the mattress. Full size is smaller than queen — confirm that is what you want before you order freight.
1. Platform vs box spring
Platform beds with slats support a mattress directly. You usually do not need a box spring. Count the slats and the stated weight rating; more slats mean less mattress sag over time. Fourteen slats and roughly a 700 lb rating is a solid everyday target for a full frame.
2. Storage drawers that actually open
Measure the clearance beside the bed. Drawers need space to pull out fully — leave several inches on the drawer side(s). If the bed sits against a wall on both long sides, storage drawers are a poor fit. Check whether drawers are on one side or both.
3. Full-size fit
A full mattress is about 54" × 75". The finished frame is larger once you add headboard and rails — often near 59–60" deep and around 80"+ long. Measure doorways and stair turns before delivery day. Full works well in guest rooms and smaller bedrooms; upgrade to queen only if you already know you need the width.
4. Assembly and boxes
Storage beds commonly ship in multiple boxes. Plan a clear floor, a screwdriver or included hardware kit, and roughly one to two hours. Keep packaging until you confirm everything arrived undamaged.
5. Freight expectations
This is freight, not a porch-drop parcel. For US addresses, 2 to 4 weeks after payment is typical. Threshold / first dry area is common — someone must be home. You move the cartons inside and assemble. If we cannot fulfill, you get a full refund.
Quick checklist
- Confirmed full (not queen) mattress size
- Side clearance for drawers
- No box spring needed if the frame includes slats
- Path from curb to bedroom measured
- Comfortable with multi-week freight timing
