How to choose a USB nightstand
A nightstand with built-in USB and AC outlets saves you from hunting for a wall plug behind the bed. Here is what actually matters before you buy.
1. Where the outlets sit
Look at the back edge of the top, not the side facing the room. Outlets on the rear keep cords out of sight and leave the top free for a lamp or book. Check that the cord reach from the nightstand to the wall is realistic for your outlet location — you may need a short extension if the wall plug is centered behind the headboard.
2. Size next to the bed
Match height to your mattress top, or slightly below. A piece around 22" wide and 18" deep fits most full and queen setups without crowding the walkway. Measure the gap between bed frame and wall so the nightstand can sit flush.
3. Drawer and weight
One deep drawer is enough for a charger, glasses, and a couple of remotes. Heavier nightstands (roughly 60–70 lb) feel more stable when you lean on them; plan for two people when you move the box indoors.
4. Veneer care
Natural oak veneer (see veneer in our glossary) likes a damp cloth and mild soap — skip abrasive cleaners and standing water. Use coasters for drinks. Soft pads under lamps prevent scuffs on the top.
5. Freight expectations
Nightstands often ship as a single parcel or small freight piece. For US addresses, outdoor or threshold drop-off in about 1 to 3 weeks is typical after you pay. Someone should be available to bring it inside. If we cannot fulfill your order, you get a full refund.
Quick checklist
- Outlet on the back, not the front face
- Height lines up with your mattress
- Room for the cord to the wall
- Comfortable with freight timing (not next-day parcel)
Quick answers
- Where should the outlets sit?
- On the back edge of the top so cords stay hidden and the surface stays clear. You still need a nearby wall outlet.
- What size fits most beds?
- Match mattress height or sit slightly below. About 22"W × 18"D fits most full and queen setups.
- How long is freight?
- About 1 to 3 weeks for US threshold drop-off after payment. Plan help to bring the carton inside.
- Can I buy the USB nightstand now?
- Not right now — the listing is unavailable for purchase. Details stay up for reference.
USB nightstand details (natural oak veneer, one drawer, USB-A + AC on the back, about 22"W × 18"D × 29"H, $229 when available) stay on the product page. Purchase is paused. For live bedside tables, the queen bed with two fluted nightstands comes as a set; the oak 2 drawer nightstand page stays listed while its buy is paused. Bedroom storage that needs anchoring: wide 7 drawer dresser and arched oak storage cabinet.
